2024 was a year of continued fragmentation in the media landscape, alongside a rapid rise in the adoption of artificial intelligence across enterprise workflows.
Both trends shaped our roadmap deliveries this year and are already guiding our even more ambitious plans for 2025. Here’s a look back at some of the major highlights from the past 12 months.
Enhanced insights in NewsWhip Spike
This year, we’ve enhanced what you can get in the platform by bringing new features and expansions to the dashboard view.
This began with our Historical Analysis enhancement, which allows our users to go back up to a year at a time in their analysis, widening the lens to better contextualize live issues as they unfold. With this update, our users can expect better context for live situations, insights into ongoing, long-term societal topics, and even more confident decision-making.

More data means even more outputs to analyze, and so we’ve incorporated even more artificial intelligence into the platform with Top Themes. This builds on our previous AI Digests feature to put those insights directly in the platform. Top Themes is a leap forward in addressing the need to quickly analyze media and derive meaningful insights and implication providing quick, actionable summaries that identify the most significant themes from the most engaged articles. We know how important traceability is in AI features, so we also cite any relevant articles in any theme detected so you can dig into them even further if needed.

And to top it all off, we’re expanding our Timeline widget to include even more networks, starting with X. Our Timeline widget has long been one of our most popular tools, providing a real-time visualization of public and media interest. This release introduces a new way to follow stories on X, tracing their journey from a single tweet to widespread public and media engagement. Whether navigating a crisis or identifying the next big story, Timeline ensures you have the tools to respond effectively and with precision. We added X to the Timeline in 2024, but watch out for even more networks in early 2025.
Superior distribution of insights
We know how important it is to get insights to the right people, quickly and efficiently, so we’ve also made significant improvements to delivering off-platform insights more broadly across the organization.
The first example of this is Report Builder, which instantly transforms your dashboards into executive-level insights. Report Builder streamlines the sharing of critical updates, including the latest data and charts. These timely insights provide stakeholders and senior leadership with all the vital information needed to swiftly act while steering the narrative.

We’ve also introduced View-Only Dashboards to enable scalable dashboard sharing and ensure consistent quality of monitoring across teams.
And if you’re working in a language other than English, our AI Digests are now available in every language for which we monitor content, creating new options for tracking and understanding news coverage in hundreds of different languages.
Streamlined user experience
Alongside these major functionality updates, we’ve also made a number of usability updates to the product to enhance the user experience within Spike.
These include:
- Dashboard grouping: Quickly organize and collate dashboards in Spike with a significant enhancement to our dashboard management. Users can now quickly bulk-select multiple related dashboards to add to a new or existing group.
- Changelog: Easily keep track of every change made to dashboards, offering clearer insights and improving team collaboration.
- Increased export limits: Export up to 10,000 articles at a time in NewsWhip Spike, enabling deeper analysis of topics of interest.
- Search enhancements: Improved search functionality, featuring sources tabbed by network, expanded source suggestions, and multi-selection options.
- Multi-factor authentication: MFA adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second step during login such as entering a one-time code sent to a registered email.
- HUD improvements: The new display is based on the dashboards that you’ve built and selected, and will keep you updated with the top stories for whatever search you’re interested in, whether that’s for your own stories, a competitor’s stories, or a developing topic.
- Mobile optimization: Now you can monitor on the go with NewsWhip’s improved mobile experience. Set up alerts, view and create dashboards, and more, all from your phone.
Bigger, transformative advances coming in 2025
We’re by no means resting on our laurels, and we have plenty more to come next year, with much of it already in the works. Next year, we’ll be deepening our focus on a social-first perspective by expanding our enhanced Timeline even further to include Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. As we adapt to this new era of news, where social platforms play a central role in shaping narratives, Timeline ensures you stay ahead.
In addition, we’ll be expanding our AI capabilities to position them as the cornerstone of our product offering. Our automated intelligence will set a new benchmark for alerting and analysis, providing contextual insight that’s both deep and immediate. Expect powerful new advancements that streamline your workflows and improve efficiency for you and your wider team.
To bring this vision for a new era of monitoring to life, we are investing heavily in our R&D team in 2025 in order to accelerate these advancements. We’re excited for the road ahead, and remain committed to helping you navigate an ever-changing landscape.
