Media Monitoring Platform

Journalists are expected to understand and respond to news at all hours, and reporting on breaking news has never been more complex.

Here are three recent product updates to NewsWhip Spike to help journalists with the task of being a successful on-the-go newsroom, including enhancements to our Heads-up Display, mobile updates, and long-term analysis.

Heads-up display enhancements

We know how important speed is for journalists, and that you need to understand what’s happening right now, fast. That’s why we’ve brought in changes to our Heads-up Display, giving it a fresh look and feel for 2024. The display is based on the dashboards that you’ve built and selected, and will keep you updated with the top stories for whatever search you’re interested in, whether that’s for your own stories, a competitor’s stories, or a developing topic.

The Heads-up Display is live for all users of NewsWhip Spike, and is already used in newsrooms around the world — why not add it to yours for a quick, easy view of the landscape?

NewsWhip Spike’s mobile upgrade

News doesn’t break on your schedule, so you shouldn’t have to be next to your laptop at all times to be able to follow what’s happening. The mobile updates we’ve made to NewsWhip Spike this month will enable you to manage dashboards and monitor the news from your phone.

Whether you need to see what angle is best as you brainstorm, or are running between editorial meetings and need to check for developments and breaking social posts, you can do it all with NewsWhip Spike’s new-look mobile view.

Historical Analysis for long-term searches

While breaking news is of course unpredictable, there are always patterns in it. We have a fairly good idea when seasonal trends are going to happen — from back-to-school deals to pumpkin spice lattes debuting at Starbucks — and when trends happen, they get written about.

So if you’re doing your content planning, and want to see when you should start thinking about time-specific stories, you can use NewsWhip’s new Historical Analysis feature to see when that content has been most successful with audiences in the past, and pick the time that’s going to get the most engagement, or the least noise from competitors.
