Following on from our look at the biggest Facebook publishers of February last week, we reveal the biggest publishers on Twitter of last month.

Here are the 10 biggest publishers on Twitter last month, ranked by total Twitter shares of content published during February:
Top Twitter Publishers, February 2014

There was a slight drop-off on January’s numbers, when the BBC reached a record of over 2.7m Twitter shares. One very obvious for this may simply be down to February being the shortest month of the year.
There was little change in the order of the top 10, with Mashable, The New York Times and CNN all putting in particularly strong performances. Of the top 10, Mashable had the most impressive share count to article ratio – the site’s 1,404 February articles were shared an average of 1,040 times each on Twitter, far above the overall top-placed BBC’s count of 300. This is an interesting facet to these social publisher rankings, one which we’ll be looking at in closer detail soon on this blog.
While overall Facebook interactions appear to rise exponentially for top publishers such as BuzzFeed and the Huffington Post, the trend is much slower on Twitter. Of course, there is the fact that Facebook has a much larger user base than Twitter, but the it’s interesting that the interactive quizzes that have given BuzzFeed such a monumental lift on Facebook have not seen the same levels of success on Twitter.
Find the top 25 with article counts and share numbers for content published during February below. Notable climbers outside the top 10 last month include Business Insider (18th to 15th), and the Wall Street Journal (17th to 13th).
