Brand monitoring software allows marketing and communications professionals to track mentions and conversations around specific brands and other keywords on social media. The software typically makes use of social media APIs to allow users to spot when and where mentions of brands take place, from social media posts such as tweets and Instagram captions, to shared web links and videos.

The best brand monitoring software provides real time information about mentions and conversations happening around your brand in real time. Email and other alerts are also provided by brand monitoring software tools such as NewsWhip Spike, which can also track when a story or social post mentioning a brand is spreading faster than average on social platforms. Spike shows the events, topics and mentions relevant to you, and how interest in them is changing in real time.

Spike also allows brands to engage with their audience around the core themes and stories that are catching their attention today. Build deeper relationships with fans and influencers on each social platform.
