Last week, NewsWhip’s Spike platform won the Data & Analytics category and the overall “Grand Prix” award at the Eir Spider Awards, a major Irish web industry competition.
The judges said some wonderful things about our platform, which we’ve built completely on feedback and ideas from our customers. We were really thrilled to see our interface in this slick-ass video.
(Thanks to Another Avenue Productions for this great video.)
Why is it so good? Well the product team does fantastic work. But they in turn pay great attention to all the information gathered from the sales and marketing teams. And then our customers are so engaged with our product, they keep on giving us really helpful feedback. So it’s 1% inspiration, 99%, well, good teamwork.
End result: we’ve built something that really works well, a platform that can rise to the top of field of really quality products.
We were duly surprised and honoured at the event, and our Head of Software Engineering gave a thank you speech, in which he may or may not have thanked his parents, his girlfriend, and everyone at the Academy…
We then enjoyed some press calls to practice our model poses…
And had a boogey…
Thank you to our supporters, to the organisers of the Eir Spider Awards, and especially to the Eir Spiders Judging Panel, who invested some serious time and energy in assessing our platform and were able to offer really insightful commentary on it.
I was with the New York team who joined the celebrations by proxy.

And this week got to work to find these guys on my desk:
The award means a lot to our team, and we are back at our desks extra motivated this week to keep on building.
Finally – as CEO of this rapidly growing and increasingly fun enterprise, I’d like to thank the NewsWhip team for building something that is just so damn good. I’m like some kind of cliched happy person these days really enjoying our work together, and amazed to see what a group of leaders the NewsWhip team is fast becoming.
Whip it good my friends!
PS: Don’t forget that we’re still hiring in Dublin and New York! Check out our jobs page for more information on our roles for software engineering, business development, customer success, and more.
