Observant Spike users may notice an interface change recently as we introduce a new way to browse and create panels.
Every day, Spike’s users at newsrooms like the BBC, USA Today, BuzzFeed, as well as communications professionals and marketers, check in on customisable streams of the stories, images and videos that their readers are talking about right now.
They do this using Spike Panels, which allow users to save different streams of content, and share them with their colleagues.
We’ve now made the process much easier to manage.
Customisable panels are now available in Spike’s left sidebar, which is collapsible and responsive. This redesign will make saving and monitoring a list of panels cleaner and easier.
NewsWhip’s Head of Product Krystian Samp envisages the new design as the first of a series of changes to the Spike platform. He noted, “Our new design gives more prominence to trending content. This cleaner UI will make the Spike mobile experience better – especially on tablet devices.”
Users can now create new tabs by saving a combination of filters when in “Browse” mode:
Alternatively, they can select the “plus” (+) button to add a panel by naming it and then selecting filters:
This new design allows more space for trending content; enabling users to save and monitor long lists of panels for easier content discovery and competitor benchmarking.
