Spike’s new video filtering system is the easiest way to find the best trending video in a digital landscape that’s creating and consuming more footage than ever.

If a picture is worth a thousand words then one minute of video is reportedly equivalent to 1.8 million.
Video and engaging visuals have become an essential asset for journalists, content marketers and anyone hoping to tell an interesting story online.
Trend makers BuzzFeed have shut down their partner network, which allowed them to track traffic from publishers they linked to, in favour of a new network with emphasis on video publishers.
The audience for online videos is large and rapidly growing – more than 1 billion unique users visit YouTube every month, an audience exceeded only by Google and Facebook. A Pew Report announced that 63% of U.S Adults now watch videos online and 36% of those videos are news content.
Just this week, a new report suggested that online video has reached record numbers. Mobile video viewing is up 57% over the same time last year, and overall online video was up 43%, representing more than 35 billion viewings.
Video is booming, and newsrooms and other content creators who are able to take it on will be supercharging their output.
To help you navigate the video landscape we’ve introduced video filtering in Spike.
It’s a simple toggle button that filters your results on any Spike pages to video driven stories. So you can see what video is big now in any niche – or from any publisher. See it in action here:

We just introduced this button in the last few days, and it’s already one of the most used features in Spike. Try it out for yourself and let us know what you think!
What is Spike?
Spike tracks the content that people are sharing and engaging with on social networks, in real time. It’s used by some of the world’s leading digital publishers – there’s a free trial for new users.
