Why The Blaze Uses Spike Every Day

Conservative American news site The Blaze has been using NewsWhip’s content discovery platform Spike in their newsroom since early 2013.

The site has experienced a steady rise in its content’s distribution across multiple platforms in recent years. The Blaze recently came in at No.14 in our Facebook Publisher rankings for February, and their page views have skyrocketed from 37m in September 2010 to over 160m at the close of 2013.

The Blaze sets out to source the highest quality content first and to provide the factual account to their audience in an effort to make “each click a satisfying experience and not a disappointment”. The newsroom’s staff are avid users of digital journalism tools to help catch big stories first.

Editor in Chief Scott Baker describes Spike as “…an essential tool to make it possible to miss fewer stories that are great for our audience.”

NewsWhip recently sat down with Scott and Breaking News Editor Josiah Ryan in their New York newsroom to talk about why they love Spike and impact it’s had on their workflow.
