Opening Message: This is Going To Be Fun

BOSTON – At its core, basketball is just a game, and we all know that games are about having fun. Early returns show that the Boston Celtics and their fans will be having plenty of it this season. The Celtics marched through their preseason schedule with a 5-3 record, including three 20-point victories, and then carried the momentum into Opening Night. They trounced the Brooklyn Nets in Wednesday’s season opener, to the tune of 121-105.

What We Learned From #SunsVsLakers

Talk about an opening statement. The Suns wasted no time reacquainting themselves with their run-and-gun ways to start the season. In a 119-99 rout over the Lakers, Phoenix made more three-pointers (16) than in any game last year. They scored 19 points on the fast break after averaging 18.7 in 2013-14. Oh yeah, and it came at the rival Lakers' expense. In short, Wednesday night could hardly have gone better. Here's what caught our eye, in ascending order of importance:

Julius Randle has Successful Surgery

EL SEGUNDO – Lakers forward Julius Randle, who suffered a fractured tibia of his right leg in last night’s game versus the Houston Rockets, underwent a successful surgery today to repair the fracture. The surgery was performed by Dr. Donald Wiss at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Randle is expected to make a full recovery, although it is anticipated that he will miss the remainder of the 2014-15 season.
